Over the past month, we’ve had a fascinating visitor: a honey badger! As part of our commitment to wildlife conservation, one of our key goals is to encourage local farmers to refrain from harming animals they consider ‘problematic’. Instead, we offer to safely capture and relocate them. In this case, a farmer with beehives was facing nightly raids from this little critter. We set up a cage trap and successfully captured the honey badger. Following the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency’s protocols, we immobilised her for DNA and blood sampling. Afterward, we provided her with a cozy stay in our Serengeti boma’s night room, ensuring she had plenty of food and water to regain her strength. We’re thrilled to share that she has now been released back into our small conservancy, where she can thrive in her natural habitat. Honey badgers are truly remarkable creatures, full of personality! Thank you for supporting our efforts to protect and preserve wildlife. Together, we can make a difference!
