On 21 September, in a gathering under the trees, the celebration brought together community members, nature lovers and local organisations in a spirit of unity and appreciation for this cherished green space. People connected with one another to share heartfelt messages about the Upper Liesbeek River Garden (ULRG) and its role in promoting environmental awareness and community engagement over the past two decades. In particular, our sponsors (Spirit Foundation, Nussbaum Foundation and VW & Audi Claremont) were thanked for their support as well as our loyal residents. In particular Dr Joan Parker, who, with a small band of residents started the gardens in 2004 and continues to head up the development. As the evening wound down, we were all reminded of the beauty of nature, the importance of conservation and the strength of community bonds. We all left with a renewed commitment to protect this beloved space for years to come.
