The newly formed Mpumelelo Project is now 3 months old. It is a project launched by Sport Skills 4 Life Skills (SS4LS) and partnered with WPCA to enhance the current provincial development program in the Cape Town townships. In addition to providing much needed impetus to the development of cricket skills, the program will also focus on providing academic and career opportunities and support. Much of the initial work has been that of planning and putting structures in place but the undoubted highlight of this initial period, has been the welcome involvement of Lord’s Taverners South Africa (LTSA) which has provided the financial impetus to take the program forward into the summer cricket season and beyond. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with such a reputable organisation.
