Blind and visually impaired children from disadvantaged backgrounds across the Western Cape, including semi-urban and rural communities, are developing optimally, functionally independent, and successfully integrated into their communities which are more aware, informed, supportive, and inclusive of their needs.

Therefore, we believe It is important for community facilities, public spaces, parks, play-grounds, cultural and artistic programs etc. to accommodate the needs of blind and visually impaired children. Inclusive community practises promote awareness, acceptance, and understanding of disabilities. To commemorate Disability Rights Awareness Month this month, blind and visually impaired children enjoyed a guided tour of a local art museum/sculpture garden – an experience which provided fun, multi-sensory, hands- on, interactive exhibits catering to the children’s learning needs.
