The Spirit Foundation are proud sponsors of Everton in The Community (EiTC). The EiTC Amputee team traveled to Sassuolo, Italy, to compete in the EAFF Champions League tournament, after qualifying through winning the IKO National League last season. The team went on the pitch at Goodison Park at half-time during the Third-Round clash against Southampton in the EFL Cup to preview the tournament where Spirit Foundation association was profiled on the big screen and in player attire in front of over 30,000 supporters. The team went on to secure 5th place, meaning they become the 5th best team in Europe after narrowly missing out on a semi-final place. Winning their opening group game against Cork City 2-0, but then a defeat at the hands of eventual winners Wisla Krakow, meant they had to beat holders Sahinbey of Turkey to qualify for the semi-final. After competing well, the amputee team had to push for the winner in the final moments of the game, only to concede late on and losing 1-0, meaning they competed for fifth place. Another tough opponent in French Champions Paris FC stood in the way and after a tough start and 0-0 at half time the lads came out firing and won 4-0 to round of a successful yet frustrating trip.
