In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day on Thursday 21 March, Everton in the Community live streamed a game between our Down syndrome football players on our social platforms in the evening from our People’s Hub venue.
The five-a-side game finished 7-7 and saw the two teams managed by Club Ambassadors Ian Snodin (Toffees) and Graham Stuart (Blues) and they were cheered on by proud parents and participants from our Youth Zone programme.
Everton in the Community’s Disability programme was established back in 2000 and we currently have 14 disabled teams that represent Everton Football Club and Everton in the Community, including pan disability and impairment specific teams, amputee, down syndrome, U13, U16 and both adult male and female pan disability teams. Our Down syndrome team was established in 2014 and we currently have 12 participants attending weekly training sessions.
