Scholarship Eligibility

The Spirit Education Foundation is pleased to announce that our annual scholarship application process is open from:

01 October – 30 November 2022

for Grade 6 learners of 2022 wishing to apply for a high school scholarship in Grade 8 in 2024.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • A scholar who is currently in Grade 6 in 2022, entering Grade 7 in 2023
  • Scored a code 6 or 7 on their Grade 6 Term 2 report for Mathematics, English and Natural Science
  • Family income is less than R 20 000 per month, before deductions
  • Intend on applying at one of the Spirit Education Foundation’s partner high schools in 2024 as listed on the scholarship application form

Applications will be examined by Spirit Education Foundation staff and selected learners will be invited to further selection processes.

Please note:

  • Application to high schools is the responsibility of the child’s parents / guardians. The Spirit Education Foundation does NOT apply to the high schools on behalf of families
  • The Spirit Education Foundation offers on average a total of 20 Grade 8 scholarships per year, at selected high schools in Cape Town, South Africa.
  • Acceptance into one of the Spirit Education Foundation partner high schools does not guarantee a Spirit Education Foundation Scholarship
  • Spirit Education Foundation scholarships for Grade 8 in 2024 will be offered at the following partner high schools only:
    • Bergvliet High School, Bergvliet
    • Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology, Constantia
    • Claremont High School, Claremont
    • Pinelands High School, Pinelands
    • South Peninsula High School, Diep River
    • Westerford High School, Rondebosch
