Big Issue: Overcoming Challenges: A Resilient Winter

Winter brought its share of challenges, particularly with inclement weather impacting our project implementations. Despite these hurdles, our community remained resilient and engaged. The Big Issue magazine sold out, and our vendors successfully sold both the Big Issue and Little Issue magazines, showcasing their dedication. Attendance for our Saturday classes remained strong, demonstrating the commitment of our learners and tutors. We welcomed a new sewing instructor, ensuring our programmes continue to thrive. Although our previous instructor secured a factory contract, our networking efforts led to finding another passionate teacher. The Vendor Meeting, held despite the weather, was a success. Our Managing Director, Derek Carelse, and HR Manager, Tracy Dunn, presented inspiring stories about women, aligning with Women’s Month. Additionally, Black Sash facilitated a workshop on the South African Constitution, which was well-received by our vendors. Through dedication, love, and support, our team continues to make a positive impact in the community, proving that even in challenging times, we can achieve great things together.
